Take a moment out of the constant fast pace, fast fashion, non-stop consumerist lifestyle we live in. Look back to the past, a simpler life of self-sufficiency and clothes – an item just to cover and protect the body.

Through this six-piece womenswear collection it will shed new light on sustainable clothing, inspiring others to embrace a more conscious decision without compromising on style or aesthetic. It challenges the current trends of fast fashion and seeks to propose how sustainable clothing can be integrated into the luxury fashion market.

Initially drawing inspiration from the apron “always evolving but maintaining its primitive shape, a body with ties” inspired the geometric pattern cutting techniques used.

Through manipulation of proportions and displacement of the apron ties, pattern pieces are shifted apart symbolising how we have grown out of traditions but will always remain connected to the past.

Developing key inspiration from traditional work wear garments, the collection uses denim – practical, functional, hardwearing and will revitalise how we look at the fabric. The use of laser cutting changes the perception we have of denim as a casual garment into something that portrays contemporary luxury.

This collection aims to inspire the continuous exposure of sustainability in fashion, by looking at it from a different angle. One in which that considers design, functionality and sustainability as equal components.
